Artist's Description

Al Aqsa is a functioning house of worship, accommodating up to 5000 worshipers at a time. The name Al Aqsa means ‘farthest mosque’, a reference to the journey Muhammad is believed to have made on his way to heaven to receive instructions from Allah. Originally built by order of the Umayyad caliph Al Walid (r 705–15 CE).

Munir Alawi is a photographer, documentarian, and digital artist. He was born and raised in ‎Bethlehem, Palestine. Passion for photography began when he first encountered the extraordinary facets of life in his ‎home city. His work reveals a visual record of his experiences, emotions and visions. Alawi has exhibited in United States, Canada, and in Middle East.
