Description
Cana is best known as the site of Jesus' first miracle, turning water into wine on the last day of a wedding feast.
Located not too far from Nazareth, it is a tiny little village filled with small shops and narrow roads. Today it is still much the same as it ever was and a little church with beautiful paintings commemorates Jesus' first miraclethat of turning water into wine at a wedding (John 2:1-12).
This was the first of Christ's many miracles and by it He demonstrated His glory by asserting power over the natural elements, love and concern for friends and loved ones, and understanding of His unique destiny.
Jesus brings the "new wine" and the "best wine" of life to those who follow Him. Wine is also a symbol of joy, and Jesus thus demonstrated that He came into the world to impart real joy to those who find Him (John 16:24; Romans 14:17).
