Artist's Description

Bethlehem is the famous birthplace of Jesus, the Son of God, born to the chorus of angels and the adoration of wise men and shepherds.

The word Bethlehem means "House of Bread." In later life, Jesus called Himself the Bread of Life (John 6:35). Thus it is heartwarming to note that the Bread of Life was laid in a manager upon His birth in the "House of Bread" (Luke 2:1-7).

Bethlehem, acknowledged by the Scriptures to be small and insignificant (Micah 5:2), was the place of Messiah's birth. This not only validates the inspiration of Scripture (2 Timothy 3:16), but it also reminds us that God takes insignificant and weak things and makes them great.

Thus it was to shepherds who were at the time on the bottom of the social ladder, that angels appeared over Bethlehem's fields and spoke and sang of Jesus' birth (1 Corinthians 1:20-21; Luke 2:8-20).
